Lawton Press is founded
After a freeze wipes out his Orlando pineapple farm, J.B. Lawton returns to what he knows best, printing, and opens Lawton Press in downtown Orlando.

Mr. Scratch Off is the custom scratch-off division of Lawton Connect, a fifth-generation, family-owned printer headquartered in Orlando, where the Lawtons have run presses for more than 125 years.
How a pineapple farmer's second act in 1900 became the print house behind the scratch cards you're holding.

"The nation's longest consecutively family-owned printing company."
Joseph Benjamin Lawton learned to print at age 10. After a Louisiana newspaper feud sent him south, and the freeze of 1899 killed his Orlando pineapple crop, he returned to ink. Lawton Press opened downtown in 1900.
The press passed from J.B. to J.C. to J.B. III, then to Ces in 1981. Four generations. One continuous line: hand-to-hand, no acquisitions, no interruptions.
In 2002 the fifth generation, Kimberly & Ty Koon, bet early on digital, variable data, and automation. Mr. Scratch Off is that bet: the custom scratch-off division, printed, coated, and shipped from the same Orlando building we opened 125 years ago.
Six generations of Lawtons have run presses out of the same Orlando building. Here's the through-line.
